Ipieca provides leadership across oil, gas and renewables activities on integrating sustainability across performance reporting, the Sustainable Development Goals and the supply chain, as well as supporting the sustainable scale up of alternative energy.

By advancing the uptake, consistency and quality of non-financial reporting; convening the sector to align and accelerate contributions to the SDGs; and promoting socially and environmentally responsible supply chains, Ipieca helps integrate sustainability considerations into decision-making and strategies.

With its broad scope and knowledge base across climate, environmental, social and sustainability and a membership that includes companies making significant investments in alternative energy technologies, Ipieca is uniquely positioned to support the sustainable scale up of wind, solar and biofuels technologies.

Ipieca acts as the industry’s principal channel of communication with the United Nations and engages with a range of UN bodies across its work programme to increase understanding and provide timely information to members and key stakeholders on global sustainability issues.

Ipieca represents the industry at external events to put forward a balanced view of the way the energy industry is transitioning, and how efforts to mitigate ESG issues are incorporated into companies' operations and planning.

Sustainability reporting

For over two decades, Ipieca has been at the forefront of efforts to help companies achieve high-quality and meaningful sustainability reporting. We do this through our sustainability reporting guidance (updated on a regular basis), convening peer learning workshops and engaging with reporting standards.

Supporting the SDGs

Energy is a key driver of sustainable development and is often described as the ‘golden thread’ that links most of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda pledge to ‘leave no one behind’. Ipieca convenes the sector to align and accelerate contributions to national achievements of the goals….

Sustainable supply chains

The oil and gas industry business model is dependent on suppliers, in all phases of the value chain and during all stages of an asset’s lifecycle. Therefore, responsible management of the supply chain, and supporting local contractors and suppliers, is critical to improving a company’s overall environmental and social performance.

Alternative energy

As part of Ipieca’s commitment to advance environmental and social performance across the energy transition, Ipieca develops and shares good practice to support the sustainable scale up of alternative energies, including wind, solar and biofuels.
